Ragen Mendenhall was born in 1978 in the city of Las Vegas, Nevada. She has been artistically inclined since childhood, and is mainly a self-taught painter. Ragen produces highly detailed images that are realistic, yet dreamlike, often filled with symbolism that celebrates nature and expresses the beauty of the organic world. Emotion plays a lead role in her compositions, and it is the dominant interest in the theme of each painting. Emotion serves as a universal language, reminding the viewer that although unique events in a lifetime shape an individual's perception of the world, shared collective emotions unite all humans and bond us spiritually, through the conduit of empathy. Ragen currently lives and works in Phoenix Arizona.
